What is the Best Pre Workout Supplement – The Savage Review
If you are like me, you’re always looking for a product that is going to amp up your workout game. Perhaps you need increased energy, more motivation or just need a better pre workout. That’s why we are going to review, what is the best pre workout supplement.
This can be a difficult question to answer because many pre workouts work great in their own way. Our all of us react differently to certain ingredients and we don’t all have the same fitness goals in mind. A good pre workout should give you enough energy and endurance to power through whatever type of workout you do. It also needs to bring plenty of focus and motivation to the table.
This “Best Of” will help you come to your own decision on which pre workout is the best for you. Some of the highlights that we will explore are pre workout supplement value and strength, as well as the pros and cons of each brand.
Factors that you may be looking for are the amount of Caffeine that you can tolerate, the best tasting and whether or not they contain artificial ingredients. The content of the individual Amino Acids may also be important to you. Some Aminos provide more vascularity and some more endurance.
I’ve done individual hands-on reviews for several of these brands. The recommendations here come from my years of personal experience, online research, and customer ratings and reviews.
What Is The Best Pre Workout Supplement:
Product: Legion Pulse Pre Workout
Price: $$$
Where to purchase: Get Best Price on Legion Pulse Here
Container size: 21 servings
Rating: 4.6 out of 5
Caffeine: 350mg per serving
Manufacturer: Legion
Guarantee: 30 day satisfaction guarantee
The biggest highlight of Legion Pulse pre workout is that it is one of the few truly “all natural” (not Organic) supplements on the market. The remarkable part is that it performs like some of the best. This means, no artificial ingredients such as artificial flavors and colors. It is also sweetened with a natural sugar called Stevia (as opposed to Sucralose or others).
The combination of L-Citrulline Malate, L-Theanine, and Beta-Alanine make for rapid Nitric Oxide elevation to give massive pumps.
This supplement is Creatine Free. Creatine is a natural ingredient and is not harmful to you, but it is not for everyone. It is very effective for muscle growth, but it could cause water retention, dehydration or nausea. Some studies indicate that Creatine can lessen the benefits of Caffeine, which can hinder your energy levels and fat burning.
There is 350mg of Caffeine per serving which I enjoyed, but it may be a little too much for some. This is the most of any on this page. Of course, you can adjust your serving size appropriately to compensate your level whether up or down.
Legion Pulse prides itself on the amount of L-Theanine which is an Amino Acid that provides you with a smoother more enjoyable energy rush. It also contains plenty of Citrulline Malate and Beta Alanine to improve blood flow and keep you from getting fatigued.
Legion Pulse Positives:
- An All Natural pre workout, no artificial colors, flavors or sugars
- Lots of Caffeine, but also comes in a Caffeine Free version
- Nitric Oxide NO2 booster
- Powerful performance boost and endurance
- Sweetened by Stevia
Potential Negatives:
- Costs a little more than average
- Not as flavorful
- Does not contain Creatine
- May be too much Caffeine

Product: B-Nox Andorush Pre Workout
Price: $
Where to purchase: Get the Best Price on B-Nox Androrush Here
Container size: 35 servings
Rating: 4.3 out of 5
Caffeine: 200mg per serving
Manufacturer: Betancourt
Guarantee: 30 day satisfaction guarantee
This one really packs a punch and is one of my personal favorites. I’ve used this pre workout many times and it gives me plenty of energy and performance. Part of the reason for this is the 200mg of Caffeine which, in combination with the other ingredients, gives increased endurance to make it through your workout strong.
B-Nox claims to have a Testosterone igniter that will stimulate Testosterone production. As in most pre workout supplements, it also has Beta Alanine and the branch chain amino acids (BCAA’s) for strength and endurance. I don’t care for the way the ingredients are labeled, all listed under 15,890 mg as a “pre workout formula”.
B-Nox has proven to give the endurance and strength to power through your workout, and the energy and focus to go the extra mile no matter what your exercise of choice is.
B-Nox Androrush Positives:
- Premier strength endurance blend
- Stimulates Testosterone production
- Contains muscle building Creatine and L-Glutamine
- Great value
Potential Negatives:
- Contains artificial flavors and colors
- Individual ingredients are not broken down by quantity
- Sweetened with Sucralose

Price: $$$
Where to purchase: Get the Best Price on Bucked Up Here
Container size: 30 servings
Rating: 4.1 out of 5
Caffeine: 200mg per serving
Manufacturer: Bucked Up
Guarantee: 30 day satisfaction guarantee
This pre workout is average in Caffeine at 200mg per serving, but high in Amino Acids. These include Citrulline Malate which synthesizes into Nitric Oxide to vascularize your blood vessels. This creates an increased flow of oxygen, nutrients, and Aminos to your muscle tissue which enables your muscles to stay fresh and recover faster between exercises.
Bucked Up comes in several great flavors including the old school popsicle, “Rocket Pop”. There are no proprietary blends, so they are totally transparent about their ingredients on the labeling. A new performer in the industry is called Actigin. Its benefits include increase VO2 MAX and boosting athletic performance
Bucked Up contains many important Amino Acids, but is a non-BCAA (Branch Chain Amino Acid) formula. It also is Creatine Free, which can be a good or bad thing depending on if you are Creatine intolerant. The Bucket Up signature ingredient is the Deer Antler Velvet. However, the jury is still out on its effects. Because of this, many distributors including Amazon carry the version without this concentrate.
Bucked Up Positives:
- 200mg of Caffeine felt just right
- Additional L-Citrulline for increased endurance
- No filler ingredients or proprietary blends
- Contains three growth hormones to enhance your workout
- Actigin to increase VO2 MAX and boost athletic performance
Potential Negatives:

- Does not contain Creatine
- Natural and artificial flavor

Product: C4 Original Pre Workout
Price: $$
Where to purchase: Get the Best Price on C4 Original Here
Container size: 30 servings
Rating: 4.1 out of 5
Caffeine: 150mg per serving
Manufacturer: Cellucor
Guarantee: 30 day satisfaction guarantee
C4 Original contains 150mg of Caffeine which is enough to get amped up and go. It brings not only energy but also motivation and focus. If you are more tolerant to Caffeine you will want to try its big brother, C4 Ultimate at 300mg per serving.
C4 also contains Creatine. Creatine is found naturally in your body or can be made synthetically. It is the most widely studied and used exercise supplement. It is proven to increase muscle mass, strength, and performance.
Beta-Alanine is an Amino Acid that improves exercise capacity, athletic performance, and helps to build lean muscle mass. You know this Amino is working from the head tingle that it gives you.
C4 contains my favorite Amino, L-Arginine. Arginine synthesizes into Nitric Oxide during exercise. Nitric Oxide creates vascularization in the veins to increase blood flow. This blood flow brings more nutrients and oxygen to the muscle tissue. The results are that your muscles will stay fresh and charged to avoid fatigue between exercise.
I go into more detail about C4 in my article, C4 Pre Workout Ingredients. One of my favorite C4 pre workouts has thermogenic fat burning properties. This one is called C4 Ultimate Shred.
C4 Original Positives:
- #1 selling pre workout on the market
- Great price considering the brand name
- Tastes great with several flavors
- Ample amount of Amino Acids for endurance
- Creatine to build muscle mass
- C4 line has many other options
Potential Negatives:
- Contains natural and artificial flavors
- Sweetened with Sucralose
- May be over-hyped

The Best Pre Workout Supplement Conclusion
I’ve listed some of the highest rated pre workouts on the market, some of them being my personal favorites. Keep in mind, that there is no such thing as a 5 out of 5 review for the best supplement since everyone reacts differently to individual products.
This makes it difficult to know “what is the best pre workout supplement”. Whether you are interested in a high amount of Caffeine, the quantity of Amino Acids or both, this information is all here to help you make the best choice.
Another factor for you may be if you’re wanting Creatine or not in your pre workout. Some of these pre workouts don’t list individual ingredient quantities which may be a concern to some.
If you don’t care for artificial ingredients in your supplements, I’ve recommended some great “All Natural” pre workouts. Pre workout cost shouldn’t be a huge deal for most since even the most expensive listed here is only around $2.o0 per serving.
If you have any comments, questions or recommendations regarding the best pre workouts, please leave a comment below and I will respond.
