I’ll be going over everything that you need to know about this rack, including the pros and cons to help you decide if it’s right for you.
Ethos Squat Rack Overview
If you have a small home gym or a garage home gym, space-saving equipment can be an extremely important way to go. Compact home gym equipment will ensure there is room for other exercise accessories. Ethos is a well known, quality brand that can be found at Dick’s. This is nice since this rack can be ordered online and then get it either shipped or go to the store to pick it up.
Ethos Folding Squat Rack Review
The number one reason that I chose this, of course, is the compatibility. After that, durability, usability, and price. This isn’t just another pretty colored rack.

Compact Size
The Ethos training rack easily folds inward to be within about 5.5 inches from the wall. Even when extended, it doesn’t take up a lot of home gym space either, with its 25 inch reach.
This amount of distance from the wall will still give you plenty of space to get under the bar. When doing bench presses, there will also be plenty of weight bench headroom.
Durability
This sturdy piece of home gym equipment is made with an 11 gauge steel frame. This thickness has become standard with many of the squat and power racks holding a high weight limit. Judging by the stability of this squat rack, I would say that it can hold up to 1000Lb range. However, the manufacture does not list weight capacity.
An important feature is the heavy duty, adjustable J-hooks for holding the bar. Not just because they are adjustable, but the number of adjustments; 18 to be exact. You won’t always have this height convenience with many of the best home gym squat racks or even with the commercial gym racks.
Built-In Pull Up Bar
One option seen with only the best home gym squat racks is the convenience of a built-in home gym pull up bar. Squat rack pull up bars are the most stable type and don’t move since the unit is attached to the wall. Just by sliding a pin on each side, it is easily removable to fold in the columns.
Stabilizing Feet
Finally, the uprights are stabilized with adjustable levelers that can be locked in an up position when collapsing the unit so they don’t drag on the floor. Because they are confident with their product, it comes with an Ethos limited lifetime warranty.
If a foldable squat rack is not important to you, check out the free standing Ethos Functional Training Rack sometimes called Ethos FTR rack. A big benefit to the Ethos FTR Rack is that it includes some of their squat rack accessories.

Ethos Squat Rack Accessories
This type of folding wall mount squat rack generally doesn’t come with other add-on workout accessories like more stable power racks do. The built-in pull-up bar is really the only one that they make for this unit
However, I highly recommend getting an adjustable workout bench in combination with this rack. This way you can more than double the number of home gym exercises that you can do. Just like the concept of this rack, you can find functional and adjustable folding weight benches which can be folded up and out of the way.
Lastly, don’t forget about the barbell and weight plates. A quality set of bumper plates or steel plates will last for years as well as hold their value. With a foldable squat rack, weight bench, and barbell set, you will be able to perform any workout routine.
Ethos Folding Squat Rack Installation
The only way to get a squat rack that is this stable and compact, it must fasten to the wall. Attaching this rack isnt as difficult as you may think. Besides the nuts and bolts, there are really only 6 main peices to focus on.
The only thing challenging may be putting up the top stringer which needs to go into the wall studs. Luckily the stringer has a long rail for the bolts to easily adjust to your stud width. If you can find someone to help then one of you can hold it up and the other one to drill. The remainder of the rack is held together with a few slide bolts, and the squat rack pull up bar is easily attached and detached.
Ethos Folding Rack Installation should take less than an hour. If your floor is uneven in the spot that you have chosen, no problem, the Ethos foldable Rack has adjustable floor levelers to stabilize it.
Other Great Ethos Exercise Equipment Products
Another great rack is the Ethos free standing squat rack which is extremely popular and one of the best exercise equipment for a home. See my Ethos Functional Training Rack Review.
To step it up a notch, the Ethos Power Rack 1.0 will make a world of difference in the versatility for doing numerous exercise routines. The reason for this, are the many different “Ethos Power Rack attachments” available for purchase. These additions simply hook on to the columns and can make your fitness routine both fun and more challenging.

Since we are talking about Ethos Fitness Equipment, I’m going to introduce one of their most popular and best home gym equipment for heavyweights. Like the folding squat rack, it’s made with 11 gauge steel with a durable powder coat.
The best thing about the Ethos Power Rack 1 is that it’s an all-in-one home gym complete with squat rack attachments. This heavy-duty exercise machine comes with J-cups, spotter arms, spotter bars, and two pull-up bars.
I really like the pull-up bar with the many handle placements and there is a 2″ diameter “fat bar” as well. Unfortunately, Ethos does not list the weight capacity, but this should be strong enough for almost any lifter. Its recommended to be used with the .
Ethos Folding Rack Review – Wrap Up
The Ethos Foldable Squat Rack is durable, compact, and easy to use. For the quality of this rack, it’s also a great value. This is one of the best squat racks for a home gym at this price point.
Ethos squat rack comes with adjustable stabilizing feet to level uneven ground, and the highlight is that it easily folds to within 5″ of being flush with the wall. This is also of the best squat racks with a pull-up bar.
The only negative I could find to this squat rack is that the manufacturer does not state weight capacity. However, similar racks that are made with 11 gauge steel like this one, hold up to 1000Lbs.
If you want a step up in durability and capacity, try my runner up, the Rogue Fold Back Wall Mount Rack. Have any questions about the best power racks or squat racks? Please leave a message below.
