ON Gold Standard Whey Protein Review
Not only had one of my trainers recently recommended ON Gold Standard to me, but It seemed like a great time to make one of my reviews on this protein powder. The reason that he had recommended ON Whey to me is that we had been talking about protein powders that don’t cause bloating or gas.
Knowing what I do about whey isolates, I thought that this may be a healthy solution to my dilemma. I knew of another benefit about this powder since whey proteins have the highest amount of protein per serving. Consuming more protein is better for many reasons from muscle recovery to feeling fuller too avoid snacking. The more protein, the better the chances for increased muscle growth.
The strawberries and cream seemed like a good flavor choice. They also make mocha cappuccino, chocolate peanut butter, French vanilla cream, double rich chocolate, and too many others to list. The strawberries and cream mixed well with a few shakes of my mixer. I prefer to mix my protein powders with unsweetened almond milk, but water would work just a.
Gold Standard calls its powder “instantized”. This just means that it will even mix well with a spoon and a glass if you don’t have a shaker or a blender. The strawberries and cream was indeed creamy as well as a mellow strawberry flavor. Not overpowering or too sweet. ON Gold Standard is sweetened with Sucralose which can come on too strong in some supplements.
Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey Protein contains natural and artificial flavoring. If you are trying to avoid artificial ingredients in your diet 100%, you would want to try an Organic Protein Powder.
I really like that fact that this powder had a large amount of protein per serving with a low amount of calories. It mixes well and tastes great. Later that evening I don’t recall having any bloating or gas from this supplement. Lastly, it has a nice price point, coming out to just over $1.00 per serving.
It appears that my trainer friend has given me a good recommendation after all, and now I will pass it along to you. You may want ON Gold Standard Whey Protein to be on your shopping list as well.

The Whey Protein Isolate Advantage
Whey protein is the most popular protein used for post workout powders. This is because whey is the highest in protein while being low in calories at the same time. Whey proteins are easier to digest since they are partially broken down for better absorption. Whey is also easy and rather inexpensive to make. It is one of the better tasting proteins as well.
Whey comes from dairy, and there are three different types of whey protein. These are whey isolate, whey concentrate, and whey hydrolysate. The process how whey isolate is made results in higher protein content and carbohydrate and fat content per serving.
It is the purest and most concentrated form of whey and contains the least amount of Lactose. Lactose is the ingredient that can give you gas and bloating with a lot of whey protein powders. This is another reason why many people prefer isolate.

This is why “ON” takes pride in making the great protein supplements for its customers. “ON” stands for optimum nutrition, which is the exercise supplement manufacturer. And “Gold Standard” is the best of the many product lines that they make. Other supplements they make include pre workouts and intra workout BCAA’s.
ON Gold Standard Whey Protein is their top seller. If you go into any nutrition store, chances are that you will find it on the top shelf. Besides whey protein, ON Gold Standard carries several other kinds of proteins that you may want to try. These include egg, casein, plant, and these blended together. I break down these different kinds of proteins in my article titled what’s the best protein powder for weight loss.
There are so many different brands and kinds of protein powders on the market now that it is impossible to know which to get. Personally, I like to keep it simple and stick with a good one once I find it. That being said, I hope this review helps you get closer to finding the best protein powder for you.

The ON Gold Standard Takeaway
Protein powders are excellent for both getting lean and gaining muscle mass. This protein powder has a whopping 24 grams of protein to jumpstart this muscle recovery. ON Gold Standard Whey Protein has the purest form of whey protein, called whey isolate. Isolate is made to be the purest and best form of whey.
I was impressed with ON Gold Standard because of the large amount of protein relative to the low amount of calories. This makes it a great supplement for getting lean. The ingredients are simple, which is what I prefer. ON Gold Standard mixed well and had a great taste and consistency. It also comes with a great price, a little below average for a quality protein powder.
One serving delivers 24 grams of protein, 1 gram of sugar, 3 grams of carbohydrates, and 1 gram of fat. This makes it a solid choice for both low fat and low carb diets as well.
All this being said, I’m giving this protein powder a 9.2 out of 10 and highly recommend it. Another important factor in this review is that the whey isolate did not cause bloating and gas. This can be a real protein powder dilemma for many.
I haven’t tried the other “ON” top-rated supplements as of yet. There are also ON Gold Standard Pre Workouts and BCAA’s. If you decide to give any of the other products a try, drop me a line to let me know how they are.
